Georgians Not Interested in the Legislature, But are Wary of the Impact on Their Wallets

An InsiderAdvantage / Majority Opinion Research poll asked Georgians about their interest in the state legislature and some of the items being considered this session.

Q. Are you aware of any specific bills in the state legislature that you are interested in?

Yes: 20%
No: 80%

Q. Do you favor or oppose an amendment that would allow regions of the state to hold votes to increase the sales tax in those areas for transportation needs?

Favor: 37%
Oppose: 48%
No opinion: 15%

Q. Do you favor or oppose a bill to eliminate the ad valorem car tax in Georgia and create a $10 fee to fund trauma centers?

Favor: 44%
Oppose: 36%
No opinion: 20%

Q. Do you favor or oppose legislation that would allow car insurers to set rates on insurance prior to review and approval by the Insurance Commissioner?

Favor: 8%
Oppose: 80%
No opinion: 12%

A total of 407 interviews were conducted on March 17, 2008. The results were weighted by age, race, gender and political affiliation. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.8%.
